In 2022 and 2023 I had the opportunity to photograph some of the finest ballet dancers in the world. With great care, I used this access to create images that evoke the feeling of performance. Ballet is often seen as the pursuit of perfection, and it is commonly photographed at the moment of peak action—every detail frozen in time. By using longer exposures I freed myself from those traditional expectations. The resulting blur invites the imagination of the viewer to complete the movement, allowing the emotion of the scene to emerge. This is the essence of The Emotion of Perfection.
