In 2022 and 2023, I had the opportunity to photograph some of the finest dancers working today. These images are drawn from a broader period of inquiry.
Ballet is often seen as the pursuit of perfection, and it is commonly photographed at the moment of peak action, with every detail frozen in time. Using longer exposures I moved beyond those expectations. The resulting blur invites the imagination to complete the movement, allowing the emotion of the scene to emerge. This is the essence of The Emotion of Perfection.
